Dandenong Twilight Seminars - Registration Form Seminar I

Monday 23 March 2020

Dr Maria Pandey (Paediatric Dentist) "Primary Tooth Trauma"

Primary tooth trauma is very common in young children.  The immediate management can be challenging when caring for a pre co-operative child and managing parental expectations in a time of high stress and emotions.  After the immediate care, what can we expect to occur to the primary dentition and developing permanent dentition?  This lecture aims to review the immediate management of primary tooth trauma and discuss the long-term consequences and further dental care the child may experience.

A/Prof Zimet (Endodontist) "Dento-Alveolar Trauma Management of the secondary dentition- Quick decisions with long-term consequences"

Trauma usually happens at the most inopportune time.  Patients and their families often present in distress.  Is dento-alveolar trauma management always an emergency?  Is time always critical during management of dento-alveolar trauma?  How do we assess pulpal changes following trauma.  When is it necessary to undertake RCT?  When/how long is splinting required?  These questions will be answered with a series of case reports that will highlight a practical approach to the management of dento-alveolar trauma.
